Pilot International was founded in Macon, Georgia in 1921 shortly after women were given the right to vote. The name Pilot was chosen after the river boat pilots who had to navigate through obstacles and challenges on a true course. The Pilot mission is “to improve the quality of life in communities around the world.” Their motto is “True Course Ever.” Pilot International recently built a new headquarters at 102 Preston Court to serve their 21,000 Pilot and Anchor members. There are approximately 450 Pilot Clubs and 264 Anchor clubs in six countries. The signature project BrainMinders™ “Protecting Your Brain for Life” provides educational programs for children and adults on the prevention of traumatic brain injury, informational programs and workshops on brain disorders, and lifesaving programs, such as Project Lifesaver. The Pilot International Foundation provides grants and scholarships on an annual basis.
